Academic

The school day commences at 8.30 am, with an initial focus on independent reading development with the class teacher, accompanied by daily handwriting, mental arithmetic, mathematics or spelling practice sessions.

Our meticulously planned curriculum meets all of the needs of primary education in the 21st century, with a timetable that includes all areas of the National Curriculum, with a vigorous emphasis on the key foci of Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Computer Science; in conjunction with additional subjects such as French, Spanish, Drama, Latin, Music and Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning – geared for future 11+ examinations. Enterprise lessons and Choice lessons offer children a chance to extend their learning. Homework is set daily for our pupils, with a maximum of three subjects per evening. Our pupils are also afforded the opportunity to express themselves creatively through the Arts, Humanities, Citizenship and Religious Education.

The school day finishes at 4pm. For most of the children this is not the end of the school day with many of them taking the opportunity to take part in our many extra-curricular activities.

We offer extended hours from 8am-6pm during the school day and 12 weeks of holiday activities on site, run by school staff during the breaks.
