Ethos

The White House Preparatory School ensures children achieve high academic results whilst continuing to remember the importance of being child centred. We encourage happiness, reward hard work, acknowledge and praise children for both personal and academic achievements.

We believe:

  • That every child has something to offer that is unique and valuable.
  • That the curriculum must be broad and balanced with art, music and sport being as important for lifelong learning as traditional  academic subjects.
  • That children are encouraged to develop a sound moral compass through kindness and empathy.
  • That the long lasting love of learning is developed through a strong support system which includes home, family, their peers, their teachers and their school.
  • All children should fulfil their potential in a safe, secure environment where they can enjoy being children.

Our Core Values

Our five core values underpin everything that we do. These are:

  • Positivity
  • Integrity
  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • Perseverance

The Woodentops Kindergarten & White House Prep School was founded by Mary McCahery (Cert Ed, ADB-Ed, SENCO) in 1985, and she is still at the helm today together with her family. Mary is also supported by an experienced senior leadership team.

Open Morning

We are delighted to invite you to a private Open Morning.

The Open Morning will take place on Saturday 9th May and will begin at 9:30am with guided tours with pupils from Year 6, who will have recently finished their 11+ exams.
60% of children achieved a scholarship with over 100 offers from top London, boarding and grammar schools including St Paul’s, Dulwich College, Alleyn’s, Emmanuel, JAGS, Francis Holland, City of London, Wimbledon High, Benenden, Brighton College and more.

The tour will give you a closer look at what happens in the classroom from Reception-Year 6 with a chance to explore our Super Curriculum which includes Nurture in Reception, Enterprise lessons, Choice and our Futures programme in Year 6 – areas where we can develop children’s natural curiosity to enhance their learning and interests outside the classroom.

The school offers wrap around care from 8am-6pm with 14 weeks of holiday camps if required.
