Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, our school held a series of engaging events culminating in a spectacular, hands-on workshop! Our activities were designed to provide both historical understanding and an immersive cultural experience for all pupils and staff.

To launch our Black History Month celebrations, we held two highly informative assemblies. The first assembly focused on the profound importance and significance of Black History Month, ensuring that our pupils deeply understood the historical context and why we celebrate it. Following this, the second assembly introduced the pupils to the exciting world of African drumming, perfectly preparing them for the cultural journey and hands-on workshop scheduled later in the week.

The highlight of the week was our African Drumming Workshop led by the incredible One-Drum Foundation. This was a truly memorable learning experience where pupils (and teachers!) immersed themselves in Ghanaian culture and the majestic Djembe drum. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm as pupils discovered the power of rhythm and celebrated Black history through this exciting cultural art form. We extend a huge thank you to the One-Drum Foundation for a truly unforgettable day!
