Stories at Bedtime

In January, WAPS organised a wonderful event for our Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 children called ‘Stories at Bedtime’, which offered children a magical and memorable evening centred around storytelling, comfort and togetherness. The event was designed to promote a love of reading while creating a calm and nurturing atmosphere that reflected the cosy routines of bedtime. Classrooms were carefully transformed into inviting little dens, filled with soft fairy lights, blankets, cushions and gentle lighting, helping the children to feel relaxed and excited as soon as they arrived.

The storytelling was kindly led by Olivia, Imogen, Leah and Georgina, who read a selection of engaging and age appropriate bedtime stories. Their expressive reading brought the stories to life and sparked imagination and discussion. The children listened attentively, laughed at funny moments and clearly enjoyed sharing the experience together, making it a truly special occasion. Storytime was complemented by delicious hot chocolate and biscuits, which added to the cosy bedtime theme and were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The combination of stories, treats and a relaxed setting created a sense of excitement!

There was plenty of fun throughout the evening, with lots of smiles, quiet chatter and visible enjoyment as the children relaxed among the fairy lights and cushions. ‘Stories at Bedtime’ was a wonderful example of how WAPS events bring the school community together and create lasting memories for our children. A huge thank you must go to WAPS for organising and supporting such a successful and memorable event. Events like ‘Stories at Bedtime’ simply would not be possible without the time, effort and dedication of our WAPS team, who work tirelessly to create enriching experiences for our children. We are also incredibly grateful to the volunteers who generously gave up their time to help make the evening so special.
