Pre-Reception love reading books and so they were very excited to find out that they were going on a trip in our school minibus to visit our local library in Balham!
When they arrived they were greeted by the children’s librarian and enjoyed different stories, based on our topic. Everyone then got the chance to go and explore different story books, sitting and ‘reading’ the books and choosing a book to borrow and take home and enjoy for their bedtime story.
Everyone took their book to be stamped by the librarian and they were very excited to take their books back to school before taking them home. The children chose some wonderful stories including “Dadaji’s Paintbrush”, “The Runaway Pea” and “I’m not Sleepy”! During Show and Tell the children then spoke to the class about their books, what the story was about and why they liked it.
Balham Children’s library is currently being updated, so we are very much looking forward to going to visit the new Balham Children’s library.
