STEM Challenge at London Park School Clapham

The White House School recently accepted an invitation to a STEM challenge at London Park School Clapham. Our Year 5 representatives had a fantastic experience, engaging in a day dedicated to critical thinking and practical application.

The event began with a focus on innovation. Working in a competitive environment, our pupils were tasked with engineering and racing an electric buggy. This required them to apply classroom concepts of physics and mechanics in a real-world setting. The session fostered excellent soft skills; the students demonstrated high-level collaboration, delegating roles effectively and combining their unique perspectives to refine their vehicle’s design. It was inspiring to see the team bond, sharing their creative ideas to bring their design to life.

The culmination of the day was the race itself. Thanks to their meticulous planning and attention to detail, the White House team’s buggy was superior in both speed and stability. They took first place by an impressive margin of five seconds!

We are incredibly proud of the team for representing the school with such distinction. They returned with a trophy to add to our cabinet, but more importantly, they returned as more confident engineers and collaborators.
