Mary Poppins!

This year, the Year 2 Spring production at The White House school was Mary Poppins. It was an amazing experience to perform to not only the whole school but also to the Reception, Year 1 and 2 parents. As a year group, we put in so much hard work to learn our lines and songs to prepare for the big day. I was lucky enough to share the role of Mary Poppins with my friend, which was one of my proudest moments. I loved dressing up as her in the famous blue dress and white dress and red lipstick. My favourite song to sing and dance to was ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’, it was very challenging to learn the actions to the song because it was so fast. I was so proud of myself and my friends as it was the first time we had led the school production.

Another highlight was when we were all getting into character when getting our hair and makeup done, I felt really excited but nervous. I spent weeks practising my lines at home with my parents, luckily I was able to remember all of my lines. I also worked hard to project my voice when singing and speaking to make sure I was heard clearly by the large audience. I loved seeing the hall transform with the cool flashing lights, sound effects and backdrop. I felt proud of our achievements as a class when the audience cheered and clapped to the music at the end of the show. I feel so lucky to have Claire as our amazing Drama teacher as she makes the lessons so fun and helps us remember our lines when we forget. I hope that I get to do more performances during the rest of my time at The White House School.
