The White House Preparatory School celebrated Around the World Week in anticipation of the start of the World Cup on Thursday 11th June. Throughout the week, each class was assigned a different country to explore and learn about. The children enjoyed researching their chosen country, discovering its culture, traditions, landmarks, and history.
As part of the celebrations, each class also designed and created a special outfit for their teddy mascot, inspired by the country they had been studying. The children used their research to ensure their designs reflected important aspects of the country’s culture and identity.
On Tuesday afternoon, our Early Years children embarked on an exciting journey “around the world,” visiting different classrooms and taking part in fun country-themed activities. For example, some children travelled to England, where they enjoyed a traditional cream tea experience, some travelled further afield to Italy to make pizza.
The celebrations continued on Friday morning with an Around the World Fair in the school hall. Parents kindly hosted tables representing a variety of countries, giving children the opportunity to learn about different customs, traditions, and cultures from around the globe. The hall was full of excited children eager to explore the world around them.
The week concluded with a colourful Around the World Parade on Friday afternoon. Parents were invited to watch as each class proudly showcased the artwork they had created during the week, alongside their teddy mascots dressed in their newly designed outfits. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the children’s hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning about the wider world.
We would like to thank all the parents who helped make Around the World Week such a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
